During her time in Albert Square, eternal optimist Heather Trott has broken away from her conniving and eccentric mother, comically spied on George Michael’s house with neurotic and honest talking friend “Shirl”, crushed on Garry Hobbs and married Minty Peterson for competitions sake, and now, Heather is faced with the most serious issue of her life.

Mere weeks ago, Eastenders soap star fans held their breath for Heather as they watched her sit in a hospital waiting room – a result of breathing troubles and chest pains earlier that day. Convinced she had breast cancer, Heather was shocked to discover her assumptions were wrong and that she was, in fact, pregnant.

The “whodunnit” type scenario Eastenders have now unleashed upon their audience, is “who is the father?”. Heather is reluctant to share this vital information after being pressed by best friend Shirley, and “who’s the daddy?” is now Albert Squares’ biggest mystery and naturally, fans have begun speculating.

Many believed it to be ex husband Minty, but just days ago, soap writers revealed this was incorrect in an emotional episode. Newspapers have speculated that it could be Phil, as this would explain why Heather was so upset when Shirley and Phil shacked up and fans aren’t ruling out the chances of it being teenage layabout Darren or previous love interest Garry.

James Sutton, who has recently joined the cast of Emmerdale as mechanic Ryan Lamb – and also starred in Hollyoaks as Jean-Paul McQueen – admitted that his precedent resumé included a brief turn as a soap bingo caller. As a struggling actor, Sutton used to announce the numbers at a popular live bingo room, much like Chit Chat Bingo. Despite the fact that it helped pay the bills, he admits that it was not a particularly glamourous job.

"I’d love to say soap bingo calling was a laugh, but it was hell,” said Sutton in an article on the Emmerdale website. “I only did it for two months, and that was long enough. I was being trained to use all the lingo, but it wasn’t for me. I went for loads of auditions at the time, so I’m glad something came up." By hell, Sutton is referring to the smell of cigarettes that lingered on his clothes, since his stint as a bingo caller came before the cigarette ban took effect.
