In June, it was announced that Gala Bingo would be launching Soap Star Bingo, every Friday in June – an hour of soap gossip, soap stars and celebrity bingo callers and presenter Chris Parker did a stellar job of entertaining players with fun, entertainment and soap goss. Gala TV fans are now waiting to see if Soap Star Bingo will be back.

Chris Parker is mostly known for starring as Spencer Moon in Eastenders over 3 years ago and his utter loveable nature was definitely right for Gala TV.

Over the last few weeks, bingo fans saw James Redmond of Hollyoaks and Casualty fame appear on their Gala screens and Chris openly invited fans from the online bingo rooms and those sitting watching at home to email or text in questions for him.

The question asking from the audience was definitely a wonderful touch, as with soaps becoming more popular every day, fans very rarely get to put their questions to their favourite soap stars.

The following week Julie Peasgood, a soap opera veteran took to the Gala TV screens and dished the dirt on the many soaps she starred in. Julie answered questions about the nutty mother she played in Hollyoaks and like James, took to the podium to call bingo numbers in the special Soap Star Bingo game!

Gala TV certainly triumphed with Soap Star Bingo and soap fans and bingo players alike are hoping it returns.

UK Soap Character Profile: Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb)

Soap: Emmerdale

Character Name:
Debbie Dingle

Actor Name: Charley Webb

UK soap character Debbie Dingle has been acting in village soap drama Emmerdale since 2002 when she first appeared on Christmas Eve as the foster child of Paddy and Emily Kirk.

Although she was sent back home for 2 weeks, she returned back to Paddy and Kirk as her mother had fallen into a coma after drinking too much. It was soon revealed that Debbie was actually the daughter of village villain Cain Dingle and his partner Charity and she was soon living with them.

Since being launched full time into the show, Debbie Dingle has had a mass of dramatic story lines including pregnancy, dodgy dealings, helping rid of a dead body and going to jail, but actress 21 year old Charley Webb admits she loves playing Debbie and has come across many professional challenges whilst playing her.

“Debbie’s a great character. I remember when I was taken into the producers to talk about the story line when she was pregnant” she told OK magazine “Obviously I was quite young at the time and I was going to have to give birth on screen, which is a big thing to take on”.

Outside of Emmerdale, Charley has posed for many magazines, and has become quite the icon but Charley admits she does what she can to try and keep her life simple and out of the public eye, unlike her character Debbie’s! Charley claims she thinks it’s important to have a personal life and to draw a line between reality and fame.

Debbie Dingle is set to come across an array of obstacles in the next few months as Dad Cain has returned and her mother Charity isn’t far behind him….
