Hollyoaks – Episode Review

The beginning of September will prove to be a tough one for the residents of soap village Hollyoaks – especially poor Ravi.

Very recently it was revealed that Ravi has a fatal brain aneurism – a week artery in the brain that could burst at any moment which proves fatal to the body. He was beaten up after admitting he was bi-sexual by homophobic Caleb, and this is when the hospital informed him of his illness. Ignoring the risks of his disease, Ravi still went ahead and took part in a violent street fight fuelled and backed by his brother Ash and Ravi left beaten and bruised, vowing to never do it again, but in the next fortnight, Ravi seems to be on self destruct mode and gets back on the war path.

Next week on the soap show, Ravi will walk in on his brother Ash and love interest Loretta in a flirtatious position. Assuming they were kissing, Ravi launches into a rage at Loretta, and as she begins to cower away from his flying arms and bellowing voice, he realises how much he is scaring her and walks away. Later, his brother Ash convinces him that the pair were playing around and it was just some harmless flirting, but Ravi is having none of it and storms off where he runs into ex boyfriend, Kris.

Kris seems generally worried about his ex boyfriend – especially when Ravi announces he is off to the Wasteland to fight! As the fight kicks off Ash, Bel, Kris and Loretta turn up and beg him to stop, but when Ravi provokes Ash, Ash punches him and he is knocked out cold. With Ravi’s condition being such a risky disease, could brother Ash have put an end to his own brother’s life?

Hollyoaks – Character Review

Soap Opera: Hollyoaks

Character Name: Cindy Cunnigham

Actor Name: Stephanie Waring

Cindy Cunningham has been on our screens in Hollyoaks since 1995.
Although she took a few years break and left the village, she returned to attend the funeral of her father in 2004 and then disappeared for another four years when she returned with daughter Holly in tow. Cindy is sneaky, and although she can’t help but worm her way into peoples’ lives to grab what she can get, she is always on the look out for acceptance and love, and since returning last year, she seemed to find that within Darren, who she has been dating up until recently. Although her character Cindy has a history of bad relationships and explosive drama, Stephanie Waring, the actress who has played Cindy for almost ten years leads a very simple life, and also has a great acting portfolio in similar roles.

Stephanie Waring is 30 years old and a mother to one daughter of three years old. She has been acting professionally since 1996 and before Hollyoaks, appeared in Nice Guy Eddie, Holby City and rival soap opera Coronation Street where her character left her new born child with Jason Grimshaw who she believed to be the father. Stephanie Waring’s money driven character Cindy is now embarking on a cryptic and nasty plan with on off boyfriend Darren. The pair are planning on fleecing Tony for every penny he has, and obtaining The Dog in the Pond pub from Hannah’s family.

Stephanie’s contract with the soap show was renewed in March 2009, but when her character is rumbled, will there still be a place for her in Hollyoaks?
Fans most certainly hope so.

Hollyoaks – Character Review

Soap Opera: Hollyoaks

Character Name: Stephen Beard

Actor Name: Archie Carpenter

Archie Carpenter is a laddish, girl loving, cheeky university student who currently lives in Hollyoaks.

Archie first appeared in Hollyoaks in 2008 where he was seen kissing Sarah Barnes in the S U Bar. He was then seen by Zoe who pulled him away and exclaimed that Archie was her brother.
She was indeed shocked when Archie announced that he would be staying as he would be attending the same college as her and he swiftly moved into her shared housing, along with Kris and Elliot and began setting his sights on the Hollyoaks ladies! Although actor, Stephen Beard, who plays Archie, is very well known for his role in the soap, he is also known from starring in an MTV documentary named ‘Living on the Edge’ – a docu-soap about wealthy children living in Cheshire. The show was a hit, gaining excessive attention from young teenage audiences, and the cameras even followed Stephen to the Hollyoaks’ studio where he had his audition and was told he’d landed the part.

Since Season Two ended, there has been no talk of a third season of Living on the Edge, but it seems Stephen is quite content on concentrating on his first acting role in Hollyoaks.
20 year old Stephen grew up in Manchester and attended both a Grammar All Boys school and a mixed sex Boarding School in his youth. Stephen claims he has wanted to be an actor since age 14 after he took part in a school production. Beard described his character as ‘a wild one’ and that characteristic surely surfaced recently when his character Archie found £100,000 in the flat he is renting with Kris, Zak and Elliot!

Hollyoaks extended Stephen Beard’s contract recently, so it looks like soap show fans of Hollyoaks can look forward to more comical story lines from Archie!

Hollyoaks UK Soap Episode Review

With Daniel in jail, the people of Hollyoaks – especially Ste – feel they can breathe a sigh of relief, but in true Hollyoaks UK soap style, everything is straight back to drama next week.

After Ste was reluctant to take back son Lucas from Abi and Daniel who were planning to steal him, nobody in Hollyoaks has any sympathy for him. Ste has been manipulated into thinking he is an incapable father by evil Daniel, and now Ste seems very confused with his own mind. Next week, viewers will see Sarah and Mike tell Ste that he is not fit to have Lucas, and announce that the baby will be staying with them until the time being. After Ste goes to see Abi, who tries to explain her actions with Daniel and tells a slightly doubtful Ste that she wants to be a family with him and Lucas.

Later on though, Ste and Abi plan to take Lucas back and run away together as a family, and as the plan is in full swing – Daniel turns up, released from the station until his hearing!
Ste and Daniel confront each other in the village, whilst Abi runs off with Lucas in arms. Later on, when the threesome are shot of Daniel, Ste realises that Abi is mentally unstable, and tells her to stay away and admirably hands Lucas back to Mike.

It certainly is all happening with the Barnes’ family as in the midst of the drama, Sarah breaks up with girlfriend Lydia. When Lydia mentions moving in together and tells Sarah she loves her, Sarah is completely taken aback and ends the relationship. Lydia doesn’t seem the type to just let that go, and Daniel and Abi are now constructing another plan… they want Lucas.

Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks is a long running UK soap opera, set in a fictional town in Chester. Although Hollyoaks attracts a huge and diverse audience, this saucy soap opera seems to attract the younger generations and because of this, the show addresses a number of young and coming of age issues.

A creation from respected soap opera writer Phil Redmond, Hollyoaks was first broadcasted on Channel 4 in 1995 and immediately, it was apparent that the soap would be aimed at the younger audience, as most story lines, more so then, revolve around Hollyoaks Community College and chart music is played at the beginning of most episodes, cleverly blending in the lyrics with current story lines of the time.

Hollyoaks have tackled many difficult and upsetting issues, with one of the most recent and effective being Anorexia. Some months ago, Hollyoaks writers decided that character Hannah Ashworth played by Emma Rigby would be heavily involved in an Anorexia story line that they hope would change youngsters minds about self image.

After embarking on a difficult relationship with friend and on/off boyfriend John Paul, Hannah blamed her own self image when John Paul revealed he was gay. She was then shown taking part in a number of disturbing scenes after she got involved with a model friend Melissa who convinced her that not eating was the way to go. Hollyoaks received much fantastic and admirable praise after this story line and has since gained respect from newspapers and many government organisations.

Aside from difficult life issues, Hollyoaks is full of laughter, comical scenes and twists and turns that keep the story lines fresh. One of the youngest soaps on television, Hollyoaks certainly has a bright and successful future ahead of it.

Hollyoaks – Episode Review

Hollyoaks was certainly an eye opener on Monday as a new face stepped onto Hollyoaks turf, Cindy wormed her way back into Tony’s life for the con of the year, and Steph and Fernando got closer.

Over the last few days, we have seen Leila – girlfriend of loveable geek Elliot – making arrangements to invite Elliot’s estranged father to meet him. Although friend Kris told Leila the arrangement was a bad idea, Leila was determined to rebuild her boyfriend and father’s relationship after many lost years, and when Elliot’s dad agreed, Leila began the preparations.
In Monday’s episode, Kris and Leila attempted to get Elliot out of the way as they directed his father to Leila’s home, but a confused Elliot turned up to the house at the same time, mistaking his father for a delivery man.

Confusion soon set in for young Elliot as he saw the man holding a photograph of him as a child, and put two and two together before Leila arrived to explain the truth and reason behind her action. Elliot was left looking shocked and uncomfortable.

Over at Hollyoaks bistro Il Gnosh, Tony began making Ste’s shift incredibly hard because of his bad mood – a result from breaking up with girlfriend Cindy.
Ste was visibly struggling from late nights with his child, Lucas, but Tony continued to insult his work when he started working on the canapes.
Suddenly, Cindy arrived and began to help Ste, and although Tony looked pleased, she was shocked and upset when he said he’d rather she was out of her life.
Later, though, Cindy turned up to his flat claiming her daughter had forgotten something and the pair rekindled their relationship after a long kiss.

It certainly was an episode for romance in Monday’s Hollyoaks as Steph and Fernando also snuggled up on the sofa for a night of dance films and conversation after their meeting. Could this be a new Hollyoaks romance? And will Tony ever discover what Cindy and Darren are up to?

Dont miss out on your favorite UK Soap action, remember to watch the next episode!

Hollyoaks UK Soap Opera TV Show Episode Recap

Tony catches con artist beaus Darren and Cindy in the act, and after being thrown out, Rhys sets up camp, and it all came to a head in Wednesday’s Hollyoak’s episode.

The episode kicked off with an angry Cindy making numerous mistakes at Il Gnosh, with an amused Dom looking on, lapping up her mistakes. Clearly hating his brother’s new gold-digging girlfriend, Dom teases Cindy behind the counter as Tony criticises her waitressing skills and coffee making. Cindy eventually throws down her apron and storms out with tears welling in her eyes, and a suddenly worried Tony looks on as she runs out of the restaurant. Later on, viewers saw Cindy return to the flat, to only open the door to Darren minutes later. Immediately, the pair began kissing… just as Tony was making his way to her flat too, armed with a bouquet of flowers to say sorry. Not thinking, Cindy opened the door with many buttons undone on her blouse as well as a bedraggled Darren inside the flat – as Tony sprints away, hurt, Cindy runs after him.

Over in the Uni dormitory halls, Hayley tells Rhys and Josh to leave her flat as the pair admit to drinking her wine and eating the pizza she had bought for a girl’s night in. Josh – hungover – then throws up in the sink, and the blonde beauty throws her boyfriend and his brother (who she actually clearly likes more than her boyfriend) out of the flat. Later on, Rhys pulls a somewhat romantic gesture out of the bag, and pitches a tent in the pub car park, fills it with fairy lights and a romantic meal and invites Hayley over. Their tent is later crushed by Josh and Gilly as they bundle onto it, laughing hysterically.

Will Tony take Cindy back, and will the con be back on, and will Hayley eventually admit her feelings for ex band mate Josh? All questions will be answered this summer, in the hottest UK Soap Hollyoaks!
