Hollyoaks – Episode Review

The beginning of September will prove to be a tough one for the residents of soap village Hollyoaks – especially poor Ravi.

Very recently it was revealed that Ravi has a fatal brain aneurism – a week artery in the brain that could burst at any moment which proves fatal to the body. He was beaten up after admitting he was bi-sexual by homophobic Caleb, and this is when the hospital informed him of his illness. Ignoring the risks of his disease, Ravi still went ahead and took part in a violent street fight fuelled and backed by his brother Ash and Ravi left beaten and bruised, vowing to never do it again, but in the next fortnight, Ravi seems to be on self destruct mode and gets back on the war path.

Next week on the soap show, Ravi will walk in on his brother Ash and love interest Loretta in a flirtatious position. Assuming they were kissing, Ravi launches into a rage at Loretta, and as she begins to cower away from his flying arms and bellowing voice, he realises how much he is scaring her and walks away. Later, his brother Ash convinces him that the pair were playing around and it was just some harmless flirting, but Ravi is having none of it and storms off where he runs into ex boyfriend, Kris.

Kris seems generally worried about his ex boyfriend – especially when Ravi announces he is off to the Wasteland to fight! As the fight kicks off Ash, Bel, Kris and Loretta turn up and beg him to stop, but when Ravi provokes Ash, Ash punches him and he is knocked out cold. With Ravi’s condition being such a risky disease, could brother Ash have put an end to his own brother’s life?

Hollyoaks – Character Review

Soap Opera: Hollyoaks

Character Name: Cindy Cunnigham

Actor Name: Stephanie Waring

Cindy Cunningham has been on our screens in Hollyoaks since 1995.
Although she took a few years break and left the village, she returned to attend the funeral of her father in 2004 and then disappeared for another four years when she returned with daughter Holly in tow. Cindy is sneaky, and although she can’t help but worm her way into peoples’ lives to grab what she can get, she is always on the look out for acceptance and love, and since returning last year, she seemed to find that within Darren, who she has been dating up until recently. Although her character Cindy has a history of bad relationships and explosive drama, Stephanie Waring, the actress who has played Cindy for almost ten years leads a very simple life, and also has a great acting portfolio in similar roles.

Stephanie Waring is 30 years old and a mother to one daughter of three years old. She has been acting professionally since 1996 and before Hollyoaks, appeared in Nice Guy Eddie, Holby City and rival soap opera Coronation Street where her character left her new born child with Jason Grimshaw who she believed to be the father. Stephanie Waring’s money driven character Cindy is now embarking on a cryptic and nasty plan with on off boyfriend Darren. The pair are planning on fleecing Tony for every penny he has, and obtaining The Dog in the Pond pub from Hannah’s family.

Stephanie’s contract with the soap show was renewed in March 2009, but when her character is rumbled, will there still be a place for her in Hollyoaks?
Fans most certainly hope so.

Doctors Soap Opera Gossip

Doctors was a string of touching scenes on Friday, and although tears may have fell during the watching of the middle of the episode, viewers across England were smiling towards the end, as at last, soap show land handed us a happy ending.

A slightly worried looking woman wakes up next to her husband Leo, and as soon as his eyes are opened, he smiles and begins cuddling and touching her. Brigit (the woman) looks extremely uncomfortable, and after a few seconds, she pushes her husband away and gets out of bed telling him she has to be in work early for a training course.

Later on, Brigit arrives at work and is immediately heckled by a colleague named Raj. He tells her that she’s loosing her touch as she doesn’t drink much alcohol anymore.
Brigit laughs it off, and the pair flirt with each other. An hour or so later, Brigit leaves for a doctors’ appointment.

Over at The Mill surgery, viewers saw a smiling Zara Carmichael reveal to Brigit that she is indeed 8 weeks pregnant, but Brigit immediately asked for a termination. She’s worried that excessive drinking has damaged her child. Zara calms her down and tells her to come back after she has done some research.

Meanwhile, after being told by Raj in a confusing phone call that there was no training course, Leo turns up looking for his wife, who isn’t there. He believes Raj and Brigit are having an affair, but when Raj tells him about the pregnancy, instead of looking elated, he looks flabbergasted.  It is soon revealed that Leo is incapable of having children, which cues Brigit to tell him that she had a one night stand in Milan in order to get pregnant. Leo is distraught and just as it’s looking like the couple will end their relationship, Leo tears up the termination form and smiles at his wife. They will have the child.

Doctors writers certainly know to pen an eagerly awaited happy ending tear jerker!

Hollyoaks – Character Review

Soap Opera: Hollyoaks

Character Name: Stephen Beard

Actor Name: Archie Carpenter

Archie Carpenter is a laddish, girl loving, cheeky university student who currently lives in Hollyoaks.

Archie first appeared in Hollyoaks in 2008 where he was seen kissing Sarah Barnes in the S U Bar. He was then seen by Zoe who pulled him away and exclaimed that Archie was her brother.
She was indeed shocked when Archie announced that he would be staying as he would be attending the same college as her and he swiftly moved into her shared housing, along with Kris and Elliot and began setting his sights on the Hollyoaks ladies! Although actor, Stephen Beard, who plays Archie, is very well known for his role in the soap, he is also known from starring in an MTV documentary named ‘Living on the Edge’ – a docu-soap about wealthy children living in Cheshire. The show was a hit, gaining excessive attention from young teenage audiences, and the cameras even followed Stephen to the Hollyoaks’ studio where he had his audition and was told he’d landed the part.

Since Season Two ended, there has been no talk of a third season of Living on the Edge, but it seems Stephen is quite content on concentrating on his first acting role in Hollyoaks.
20 year old Stephen grew up in Manchester and attended both a Grammar All Boys school and a mixed sex Boarding School in his youth. Stephen claims he has wanted to be an actor since age 14 after he took part in a school production. Beard described his character as ‘a wild one’ and that characteristic surely surfaced recently when his character Archie found £100,000 in the flat he is renting with Kris, Zak and Elliot!

Hollyoaks extended Stephen Beard’s contract recently, so it looks like soap show fans of Hollyoaks can look forward to more comical story lines from Archie!

Emmerdale Character Review

Soap Opera: Emmerdale
Character’s Name: Nicola De Souza
UK Soap Actor’s Name: Nicola Wheeler

Loudmouth Nicola first arrived in the small soap village of Emmerdale in January 2001 where she wandered into the Woolpack looking for half-sister Bernice.
Upon her arriving, Nicola befriended village sweetheart Emily and talked her Dad into letting her stay with him. Within months, Nicola was engaged to sexy chef Carlos Diaz who unbeknown to her, was having an affair with her sister Bernice! All was revealed in true soap style on the wedding day, and it was then that Nicola’s ‘nasty’ streak came to a head, and since, Nicola has seduced many Emmerdale residents, attempted to fleece her brother’s partner, and also attempted to murder millionaire ex husband, Donald.

Actress Nicola Wheeler talked of the scenes leading up to Donald’s attempted murder and explained Nicola’s characteristics to a tee!
“Nicola has every intention of killing Donald – but that will probably save his life. She’s useless!” Nicola spoke of her character’s complacent but evil ways. As much as her character has encountered a hoard of drama, actress who players Nicola De Souza, Nicola Wheeler has lead a very simple life! 35 year old Nicola started her acting career some years ago and appeared in rival soap Coronation Street where she played Melanie Tindal and she also appeared in her local pantomime after Emmerdale fame as, ironically, the wicked witch.

Nicola Wheeler is known for playing the nasty and sneaky roles and was even voted ‘Best Bitch’ in the 2006 British Soap Awards. Nicola De Souza has recently given birth on Emmerdale, and viewers have seen a slightly more reserved and motherly Nicola since. Will this be the end of Nicola’s nasty ways?

Eastenders – Episode Review

Friday’s episode of London based soap opera Eastenders saw a string of comical couplings, touching scenes and shocking revelations, and as Dawn and Garry’s wedding edges closer, viewers can’t help but wonder if it will go ahead according to plan.

In the morning inside the house that Garry, Dawn and Minty share, Minty finds Garry asleep in the living room on the sofa. After asking him if he has argued with Dawn, Garry brushes off his negativity and tells best bud Minty that he’s ‘saving himself’ for the wedding night – but Minty doesn’t look too convinced. Later on, Minty tells Garry that he has a brilliant and costly stag night planned for him, but Garry insists he just wants a few drinks in The Vic and asks him to ask Phil – the man his fiancé cheated on him with, unbeknown to Garry – if they can hold the stag night there.

Later at work, Garry is confused as to why Minty and Phil are constantly bickering, and handcuffs their feet together in the Arches and tells them to sort their differences!
They’re later unattached when Minty finally asks Phil about the stag night who then okays it. Meanwhile, after almost catching her son Syed half naked in Christian’s flat, Zainab badgers poor Christian to leave the house and help them with a catering gig. Christian agrees, and turns up late after Syed pep talks him on the phone.
When explaining what to do, Zainab goes dizzy (not the first time this weak) and loses her footing, but she insists it’s tiredness.

As beautiful soap show scenes unravel with the newly returned Jim and wife Dot, not so beautiful things are happening at The Vic when Phil loses it with Minty’s heckling – he tells Minty he ended it with Dawn, not the other way round, as Minty is left fuming.

Now the question is – will Minty tell his best friend the truth about his fiancé?

Hollyoaks UK Soap Episode Review

With Daniel in jail, the people of Hollyoaks – especially Ste – feel they can breathe a sigh of relief, but in true Hollyoaks UK soap style, everything is straight back to drama next week.

Ste has been manipulated into thinking he is an incapable father by evil Daniel, and now Ste seems very confused with his own mind. Next week, viewers will see Sarah and Mike tell Ste that he is not fit to have Lucas, and announce that the baby will be staying with them until the time being. After Ste goes to see Abi, who tries to explain her actions with Daniel and tells a slightly doubtful Ste that she wants to be a family with him and Lucas.

Later on though, Ste and Abi plan to take Lucas back and run away together as a family, and as the plan is in full swing – Daniel turns up, released from the station until his hearing!
Ste and Daniel confront each other in the village, whilst Abi runs off with Lucas in arms. Later on, when the threesome are shot of Daniel, Ste realises that Abi is mentally unstable, and tells her to stay away and admirably hands Lucas back to Mike.

Hollyoaks Episode Review

Tuesday’s Hollyoaks episode was aired on E4 at 7pm tonight and the episode was full of love triangles, sexy Spanish dancers and relationship breakdowns.

Steph looked almost sorry for him and dashes off to the dance studio.

Back over at the Hollyoaks’ local pub The Dog, Gilly shows off a pair of brand new ballet pumps he’s bought for Steph as Fernando sees and asks who they’re for. Gilly changes the subject and fails – after many lies – to put Fernando off Steph and ignoring his comments, Fernando goes off to find his damsel. Hollyoaks soap fans are sure starting to feel for Gilly and there a multitude of people rooting for him to succeed and for Steph to fall for his laddish charms. Steph will soon start to catch wind of his feelings, but who will she choose?

Eastenders – Episode Review

Eastenders left everyone wanting more when Friday’s episode – full of drama, pay offs and family feuding – came to an end. Fans now await the next episode which air next Monday.

The start of the soap episode saw Archie and Jack – certainly an unlikely coupling – chatting sneakily in the square. Archie asks Jack quickly if ‘everything is on for later’ and a serious looking Jack nods, as Archie heads for the Vic. Inside, he begins pressing daughter Roxy about her sister Ronnie and ex childhood sweetheart, Joel. Roxy looks uncomfortable with the Spanish inquisition and after giving very little away, tells her father to leave the pair of them alone as they are old enough to look after themselves – but Archie’s face tells a million stories, and it’s clear this slimy character will not be letting go that easily. Roxy, on the other hand, has sister Ronnie in mind for other things – she asks her to babysit for her date with Ricky, but when Ronnie says no, she looks angry and looks as though she’s regretting sticking up for her to Archie.

Meanwhile, viewers then saw an excitable Ricky preparing for his date with Roxy that evening, as a clearly jealous Bianca seethes – she then has an idea. She flirts with Doctor Al in hope of getting a date with him, but he doesn’t reciprocate. She then stoops to a lower level and offers him free coffee for a week in exchange for a date, and he agrees!

Whilst both dates are kicking off, it is announced that Jack has sold the car lot to Archie, and when an angry Ronnie finds out her father’s deal, she goes looking for him – but unbeknown to her, Archie is presenting a massive wad of cash to Joel, asking him to leave Walford and leave Ronnie alone. Joel takes the cash and scarpers.

Will Joel be back to tell Ronnie about her father’s pay off? And how will the car lot run with Mr Evil in charge of it? Tune in Monday, at 8pm, on BBC1 for the next juicy Eastenders installement!
